Slovakia is interested in strengthening cooperation with Austria and the Czech Republic within the regional platform called the Austerlitz Format, or the Slavkov Trilateral. According to the Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Klus, who paid an official visit to Austria this week, a good European-funded solution for the cooperation could be cross-border modern rail transport projects. The main topics of the bilateral talks with the Austrian partners were, however, the current issues of the European agenda and economic challenges brought about by the coronavirus crisis. In this regard, both sides called for caution and a preparedness to introduce new measures, as developments indicate that Europe will not avoid a second wave of the pandemic.
