Parliament at its session on Thursday elected five candidates for Constitutional Court judges out of six it was initially supposed to pick. The sixth candidate will emerge from a second round of voting that will feature eight hopefuls who didn't receive enough support in the first round on Thursday.
Of those six candidates, President Ivan Gašparovič will select three of them to replace outgoing judges - Jan Luby, Juraj Horvath and Jan Auxt - for a term of 12 years. The five candidates who passed the vote on Thursday are Supreme Court judge Jana Baricova, Nitra Regional Court judge Jan Bernat, notary and university teacher Miroslav Duriš, Bratislava I District Court chair Eva Fulcova) and Kosice Regional Court chairperson Imrich Volkai.
