Former three-times prime minister Robert Fico was re-elected Smer-SD chairman at the party's congress in Bratislava on Saturday. Juraj Blanár, Ladislav Kamenický, Richard Takáč, Ľuboš Blaha and Erik Kaliňák were elected as vice-chairs. Marián Saloň was elected the party's general manager. Smer-SD won all General elections in Slovakia starting from 2006 to 2016. In 2020 the party came second, ended in opposition and subsequently 11 of its 38 MPs left the party including its most trusted face and former Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini, who announced his intention to found a new party, Voice-Social Democracy.
