The Association of Industrial Unions proposed to freeze the minimum wage at the current level for this year. The association reacted to Labour Ministry proposal to increase the minimum wage from 580 to 620 euro. According to their proposal, companies do not have finances to increase the minimum wage for their employers at the moment due to the ongoing pandemic. The association noted that higher wages would increase firms' costs by tens of millions of euros next year. The former prime minister and independent MP Peter Pellegrini also criticised the ministry's proposed level of minimum wage for next year. He pointed out that the new wage would be 36 euro lower than what his government originally proposed.
