Several dozen people received financial compensation from the state of Slovakia in 2013 after taking their cases to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. A little over 460 complaints were dealt with while around the same number of complaints were rejected. Slovakia had to pay nearly €370,000 in compensation.
If compared with the previous year of 2012, the total number of complaints by Slovaks decreased. Among the successful plaintiffs was Supreme Court chairman Stefan Harabin for a disciplinary punishment that he received from the Constitutional Court.
