Education Minister Branislav Groehling (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) stated at a press conference on Tuesday that he has no intention of stepping down in response to claims about his master's thesis, noting that he would write the work in a different way if he were to compose it now, however.
Moreover, the Pan-European University in Bratislava said in a statement on Tuesday that no irregularities were found in Education Minister Branislav Groehling's diploma thesis vis-a-vis the rules in force when it was written eleven years ago.
Nevertheless, according to the Slovak daily Dennik N, Groehling's thesis contained elements of compilation and plagiarism. It stated that Groehling copied a large part of his own bachelor's thesis and pasted it into the diploma thesis. However, the university stated that this complied with its internal rules in force at the time.
