An investigator from the National Crime Agency (NAKA) has pressed charges of denying the crimes of political regimes and crimes against humanity against Smer-SD MP Lubos Blaha. However, Smer-SD head Robert Fico has called the charges political bullying and stated that he stands behind Blaha. Moreover, at the press conference on Tuesday Fico stated he would welcome Blaha becoming vice-chair of the Smer-SD party.
On November 20, 2019, Blaha wrote on social media that stories about communists being killers are lies and that "in fact, communists were helping people and removed the mafia and oligarchy from Czechoslovakia." According to Fico, it was Slovak MEP Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová, who ran for Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), who filed a complaint against Blaha.
