Ivan Kotuliak, dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies (FIIT), survived a vote aimed at his dismissal in the Slovak University of Technology's Academic Senate on Monday. A total of 18 people voted for his dismissal, and even though 13 were against and three abstained from the vote, this was not enough to remove him. STU chancellor Miroslav Fikar stated in late June that Kotuliak must go, otherwise the quality of education and reputation of the school would suffer. The call came in the wake of mass resignations of lecturers from FIIT, who disagreed with some of Kotuliak's moves.
