Smer-SD to hold congress on Saturday

Smer-SD chief and former three time Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that his party would hold a working congress at its headquarters in Bratislava on Saturday, explaining that there was no other option after "the traitors", the group of eleven Smer-SD defectors led by Peter Pellegrini, left the party, as it now has to fill in the holes they left behind by electing new presidium members and new party vice-chairs. On Saturday, he expects roughly 150 delegates, who, according to him, will be enough to adopt technical resolutions. "We have to deal with the post of party general manager, adjust the statutes, because we were betrayed and some of our colleagues left us under strange circumstances," he stated. Fico at the same time claimed that he is not interested in any executive post in Parliament, where he is currently only an MP. He went on to say that he wants to protect Smer-SD as party head but wants to find a new election leader for the next general election.
