Brussels calls on Slovakia to respect protection of consumer rights

The European Commission (EC) calls on Slovakia and nine other member states of the European Union to respect its law in the area of the protection of consumer and passenger rights. The Commission has opened infringement proceedings by sending a letter of formal notice to the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Slovakia, as their national rules infringe EU law on consumers' and travelers'

rights. Many travel services had to be cancelled during the coronavirus pandemic. "Throughout this crisis, the Commission has constantly emphasized that consumer rights continue to apply in the current unprecedented situation and that national measures to support the sector must not restrict them," said the head of the press team of the EC Representation in Slovakia, Ingrid Ludvikova.
