As many as 685 companies violated the illegal employment ban last year, shows a report regarding the fight against illegal work and illegal employment for 2013. Labour Minister Jan Richter (SMER-SD) informed the Cabinet members on the report at the session Wednesday, April 2.
The high number of illegal workers is not a problem isolated to Slovakia either: according to a recent Eurobarometer survey, in 28 states across the EU, one in five home repairmen are not licensed traders and are performing work outside the law. Horticultural activities are next with 14 percent of workers in the EU being undocumented, and home cleaning comes in third, with 13 percent being unlicensed to carry out the service.
