Slovakia's expenditures on defence in 2019 amounted to €1.67 billion, according to a revision approved by the Government at its session on Wednesday. The growth in Slovakia's defence expenditures between 2012 and 2019 was among the four highest in NATO. The steepest year-on-year increase was observed last year, when the majority of the finances were used to buy F-16 jet fighters. The report further states that Slovakia has long had above-average expenditures on military personnel, but below-average expenditures on infrastructure building and other operations. When it comes to investments in modernising equipment, Slovakia has been investing average amounts of money in the Alliance.
