The Economy Ministry is interested in building a strategic industrial park close to Haniska pri Kosiciach, Economy Minister Richard Sulik (SaS) confirmed on Monday. The park is projected to serve the needs of a potential big investor. Sulik pointed out that in the recent past, SP Haniska lost out on a large-scale investment by carmaker BMW, which went instead to its Hungarian competitor, a park in Debrecin. It was the unpreparedness of the Slovak side that tipped the scales in favour of the competition, as time was of the essence for the investor. Five locations have already been identified as suitable sites where the state will make investments in advance. "We buy the land, pay for the infrastructure and prepare all the necessary permits beforehand so that when a suitable investor comes, we'll be able to sell the land to them for a reasonable price with all the infrastructure facilities already in place. Hence, in the space of a short time, let's say inside three months, the investor could start construction work," said Sulik. He didn't specify what kind of investors the parks should cater to at this stage.
