The Council of the European Union announced on Friday that the current head of Slovakia's Permanent Representation to the EU Peter Javorcik had been appointed director general for transport, energy, environment and education at the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. The Foreign Ministry welcomes Javorcik's appointment to this high-ranking position and wishes him much success in fulfilling a demanding and responsible position.
"It's a huge recognition not only for me personally, but also for the entire Slovak diplomacy and our European policy," Javorcik told TASR. He will take up his new duties from October 1, 2020.
