The Slovensko.Digital platform has joined those calling on Education Minister Branislav Grohling (SaS) and the leadership of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) to resolve the situation at the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies (FIIT), stating that the resignation of faculty dean Ivan Kotuliak and his associates is the only way to settle the situation. A similar call was made by Slovakia's IT Association on Wednesday. „The Faculty, which has spent 15 years building up its prestige, is about to change in a fundamental way. I'm not sure whether these changes will be for the better," said association president Emil Fitos.
A total of 26 academic employees are leaving FIIT STU, including two-thirds of all professors, senior lecturers and several guarantors of study programmes. They are all resigning due to disagreements with the FIIT dean, which have been ongoing for several months and saw a faculty strike that was quelled only by the outbreak of the coronavirus.
