Prime Minister will not call on Boris Kollár to resign over plagiarism

"I won't call on Parliamentary Chair Boris Kollár (We Are Family) to resign in connection with the suspected plagiarism of his diploma thesis", Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) told at a press briefing on Wednesday. In 2018, when the then parliamentary speaker Andrej Danko faced allegations of plagiarism, Igor Matovič was very articulate about the need for Danko to step down. This time the premier justifies his action by saying that he does not want to risk the fall of the Government and the return of the "mafia" to the helm of the state. According to Matovič, Boris Kollár is sufficiently legally competent to infer responsibility in the situation. The premier also admitted the importance of making a qualitative restructuring of higher education. Education Minister Branislav Grohling (Freedom and Solidarity) has already given an order to subject the University of Central Europe in Skalica (Trnava region), where Kollár obtained his master's degree, to an inspection.
