Twenty-seven percent of university students in Slovakia have lost their jobs during the coronavirus crisis, according to a survey of students from Slovakia's largest universities performed by the educational project Praxuj. The worst performing region is Prešov, where 41 percent of the students polled have lost their jobs. The lowest numbers of lay-offs were in the Košice and Zilina regions, but even there 20 percent of the respondents reported losing their jobs. "We believe that state aid will appear that will contribute towards the re-employment of university students," said Praxuj project co-founder Jozef Gašparík, adding that several pieces of data indicate that students who work during their university studies have a better chance of succeeding in the labour market afterwards.
