Half of leadership leave Young Social Democrats

Half of the leadership and regional coordinators are leaving the civic association Young Social Democrats (MSD), in response to a statement made by acting chairman Igor Melicher in support of the Smer-SD party, TASR press agency reported on Tuesday. Displeased members of the organisation have decided to leave because they connect the future of social democracy in Slovakia with Parliamentary Vice-chair Peter Pellegrini, who has just left the party. Melicher stated on Monday that Smer is and will remain the only relevant partner for the Young Social Democrats, while Pellegrini's departure has weakened the Left and social democracy in Slovakia.
