The governing coalition is not discussing freezing MPs' salaries in connection with the coronavirus crisis, Speaker of Parliament Boris Kollar (We Are Family) told TASR press agency in an interview. He added that MPs can support people hit by the coronavirus crisis via donating part of their income to the Mutual Aid Fund set up by Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OLaNO). The amount raised by the fund, which was launched as of the beginning of April and is kept as a transparent account, now stands at almost €660,000. The Government Office hasn't yet begun distributing money from it. Government Office head Julius Jakab in early June agreed with representatives of the LudiaLudom.sk (People to People) NGO on how to process the mechanism for drawing money. An MP's monthly basic salary is €3, 276 with bonuses attached for those in leadership positions eg, leading a specialized committee. They also get a flat-rate compenstaion package worth €1,966 for those residing in the Bratislava region and €2,294 for those from other regions.
