Prime Minister Igor Matovič's planned "Government newspaper" that should contain information on the activities of ministries, will probably encounter a rival newspaper, as representative of the extra-parliamentary Christian Democratic Party (KDH) Alojz Hlina and head of the extra-parliamentary Good Choice party Tomáš Drucker have announced that they intend to publish a counterpart called the "Opposition Newspaper". "If there's going to be a Government newspaper, there'll also be an opposition newspaper because democracy needs to be protected," stated Hlina, explaining that the latter will be financed from private resources. "It should be released for the first time some two weeks after the Government one. Let people have their opinion on it and let them hear about opinions that differ from those of the Government's propaganda," said Hlina.
Hlina doesn't like Matovic's newspaper plan. "It's on the level of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko," he stated, wondering aloud how sane Government officials could agree with such a waste of public resources on Government propaganda during a crisis. "It's rather absurd that the premier and the Government want to spend taxpayers' money on their own newspaper despite the immense attention they get in the media ... So, we're convinced that different opinions and views, if there are any and of course there are, need to be communicated even more," Tomáš Drucker told TASR press agency.
