During Tuesday's raid on the National Agency for Network and Electronic Services, the National Criminal Agency detained four individuals. They were released on Thursday. Police raided also several government offices. According to Veronika Remišová, vice-premier for investments and informatisation, the raid was connected to suspicions of a threat to the strategic security and interests of the state that started under the former government. Slovak secret service director Vladimir Pčolinský said on Wednesday that the devices seized by the police as part of the raid served as protection against cyber-attacks or against virus infections of the Government's Govnet network, however, he admitted that theoretically they could also record communications. Nonetheless, Pčolinský assumed that these devices could not have been installed without the consent of official state authorities. PM Igor Matovič refused to comment on the case, stressing that it is necessary to wait for the conclusions of the investigation, but he stated that the process of digitisation and informatisation of public administration in Slovakia needs to be rebuilt.
