Slovakia will be playing an important role in the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the coming twelve months. On Tuesday, Finance Minister Eduard Heger took over the post of Chairman of the EIB's Board of Governors, whose members are the European Union's finance ministers. The Board of Governors is the highest governing body of the EIB, which is the European Union's bank and the world's largest international financial institution. "The European Investment Bank has a unique role to play in supporting long-term investments that improve lives and provide new opportunities for Europe and the world. I am honored to be the new chairman of the EIB's Board of Governors and look forward to working with fellow ministers and the EIB," said Eduard Heger. He went on to say that his goal in the position of chairman of Board of Governors would be to ensure that the European Bank's financial strength and technical expertise support the whole of Europe, especially in these challenging times.
