Slovak gas utility signs new contract with the Russian Gazprom

The gas utility Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP) has agreed with the Russian gas major Gazprom on a new wording of a long-term contract on supplies of natural gas.

The companies sealed the agreement on Friday. The new contract adjusts the purchase price. SPP however is tightlipped on the price they will be purchasing gas from the Russian energy giant. “We have agreed on adjusting the purchase price in order to reflect more truly the current development of market prices of gas,” SPP spokesman Peter Bednar has informed. According to the Slovak gas company the new contract on gas supplies represents a step towards boosting SPP competitiveness, with a positive impact on its financial efficiency.
