The coronavirus lockdown in Slovakia significantly affected the country's foreign trade in April, according to Statistics Office data released on Tuesday. Slovakia's foreign trade posted a deficit of €492.1 million in April. Overall exports plummeted by 43 percent while imports slumped by 36.6 percent. According to UniCredit Bank analyst Ľubomír Koršňák , foreign trade showed the highest monthly deficit since December 2008. According to the analyst, the new coronavirus pandemic will significantly reduce the intensity of foreign trade also in the coming months, although the low point was probably recorded in April.
