Culture Minister Natália Milanová (Ordinary People party) does not consider the steps of Parliamentary Speaker Boris Kollár (We Are Family Party) regarding the situation at public broadcaster RTVS to be standard. "Nevertheless, he has a right to express his opinion as well as participating in RTVS's board," said Milanová.
On Wednesday, Kollár took part in an extraordinary session of the board of the Public Broadcaster RTVS. The board decided to react to the criticism from the chair of the Parliamentary Committee for Culture and Media Kristián Čekovský (Ordinary People Party). Earlier in May, Čekovský pointed to ineffective financial management at RTVS, possible censorship in reporting news as well as the RTVS's board failing to do its job. Kollár said that he would ask for an audit and refuses to criminalize the board before the outcomes of the control are published.
Culture Minister Milanová confirmed that the control of the Public Broadcaster conducted by the Culture Ministry is starting as of Thursday.
