The Defence Ministry has already scrapped a tender for multi-purpose 4x4 tactical vehicles, ministry spokesperson Martina Koval Kakasčiková has confirmed for the TASR press agency. The tender was launched in June 2019 under the previous defence minister, Peter Gajdos (Slovak National Party/SNS), with an eye towards procuring 4x4 vehicles worth up to €321 million VAT-free. The Public Procurement Office (UVO) suspended the commission in early July and ordered its cancellation in December, citing non-transparency. The ministry appealed against the decision at the time. Upon assuming his post, incumbent Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad (OLaNO) announced that he planned to scrap the tender altogether.
