Production in Slovak car making plants is speeding up

As of Monday, a two-shift production is running in three car making plants in Slovakia - Kia in central Slovak Žilina, Volkswagen in Bratislava and Peugeot-Citroën in western Slovak Trnava, wrote the Denník N daily.

During the corona crisis, Kia halted its production for three weeks and recently announced that it would run in a two-shift mode until the end of June and will start a three-shift schedule no sooner than in July.

Volkswagen could be the first carmaker in Slovakia with a full three shift operation - starting from the last week of May. However, during this week it will not run on Friday. The aforementioned Kia runs five days per week and plans no breaks.

The Trnava based plant of Peugeot-Citroën started only last week, but quite abruptly, as it is starting a two-shift schedule this week.

The last carmaker in the country, Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra, western Slovakia, is starting its production this week as the last plant. For the last eight weeks, only a small group of its employees have been preparing the production of their new model - Land Rover Defender.
