Re-opening nurseries and primary schools to be decided on Monday

The possible re-opening of nursery schools and primary schools will be decided on Monday (May 18th), according to Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OLaNO). The decision depends on developments related to the number of infected people in Slovakia, based on data over the weekend. "If the situation is mild and we see that nothing terrible has happened, then we'll have more courage to re-open schools and nurseries," he said. Attending nurseries and primary schools will be voluntary. At the same time, they also want to stipulate the maximum number of children per class or group. The number currently stands at twelve. Schools and school facilities have been closed since March due to the spread of the novel coronavirus in Slovakia. During the suspension of school attendance, education is being carried out remotely.
