The system for monitoring groundwater in Slovakia will undergo an in-depth inspection, the Environment Ministry advised on Tuesday, adding that experts from Sweden will take part in this process. The decision has been made by the Supreme Audit Office (NKU) and was welcomed by Environment Minister Jan Budaj (OLaNO). "Potable water is this country's greatest treasure and its monitoring and safekeeping is an existential matter for Slovakia's future," he stated. According to the ministry, the results of the inspection, as well as individual procedures that will be subsequently proposed by NKU, will lower the risk of pollution and increase the protection of groundwater.
