The Trenčín local authority signed a contract with Japanese company Akebono Brake Industry Co., Ltd. on Tuesday, for the sale of plots in a Trenčín industrial park for an investment expected to create hundreds of jobs, TASR learnt on the same day.
According to mayor of Trenčín Richard Rybníček, the local authority has managed to attract one of the largest investments in Slovakia. “In the first phase we’ve sold around 4.2 hectares of land to Akebono, where the first part of the plant should emerge. Several dozen jobs should be created by the end of this year. If the first part of the investment is successful, the investor has indicated interest in expanding production on another 4-8 hectares”, said Rybníček, adding that the plots sold on Tuesday cost nearly €1 million. Local councillor Pavol Kubečka also appeared to be happy. “I welcome this investment, and I believe that the company will create 500 new jobs as reported by the media”, he told TASR. Akebono Brake Europe is a subsidiary of Japanese company Akebono Brake Industry, which was set up in 1929, and produces brakes for automobiles, motorcycles, rolling stock and industrial machinery. Its plant in Trenčín will be one of its first in Central Europe.
