Ombudswoman Maria Patakyová on Thursday approached the government, stating that she was "concerned about the constitutionality" of the government's ban on the elderly to shop apart from two hours on work days during the coronavirus outbreak. Patakyová believes that the measure is disproportional and unenforceable in practical life. Public Health Authority spokesperson Dáša Račková in reaction said that the measure is for old people's own good, as "COVID-19 can cause them life-threating conditions and even death".
As of Tuesday, the shopping hours for the elderly are set to be only between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and are in effect only during working days.
