Slovak Government plans to update Slovakia's Security Strategy

The restoration of a foreign affairs consensus will be one of the key guiding principles in the pursuit of Slovakia's foreign policy aims; it follows from the Government Manifesto submitted to Parliament by Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) on Monday. "Differing opinions form the intrinsic aspect of democracy. However, we will communicate with the public and our foreign partners in such a way as to afford no room for the rise of doubts about our orientation," reads the text. In the past years, this has not always been the case, with the Foreign Ministry and Speaker of the Parliament not synchronising their approaches. According to the new Manifesto, EU and NATO memberships are based, among other aspects, on the principle of solidarity as well as on compliance with rules and a show of responsibility by all members. The Manifesto also plans to update Slovakia's Security Strategy.
