Cross-border commuters don’t have to test for COVID 19

Slovaks living abroad up to 30 kilometres beyond the borders and commuting to Slovakia shouldn't have themselves tested for the novel coronavirus until April 27. Prime Minister Igor Matovic stated this on Tuesday, despite the fact that the government recently announced that all cross-border commuters must show negative coronavirus tests at border crossings as of May 1. Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Klus has stated that there are currently roughly 2,000 applications for repatriation, adding that 1,200 are from Slovaks living in the UK. "We've noticed that interest in repatriation has now dwindled. We're considering resuming the repatriation process when the pandemic situation in countries inhabited by Slovaks develops further," said Klus.
