Scientists: Government should improve its crisis communication

Slovak scientists call on the Government to improve its crisis communication and draft specific plans for the months ahead. "The fewer dramatic statements the better, particularly when they're not based on thought-out plans and expert opinions," recommend the scientists in a petition signed by specialists from different scientific fields. "It shouldn't be political information. The crucial role should be played by a relevant body - either the Public Health Office or Health Ministry," reads the text.

In addition, the country needs to have specific plans at its disposal for overcoming individual stages of the crisis, including the preservation of employment. Of equal importance is also the need to draft a long-term development strategy for Slovakia, which would also encompass the economic revival period that is expected to follow the economic crunch.
