Last year Bratislava attracted more than 947 thousand visitors, out of whom, 650 thousand came from abroad. Year on year the number of tourists coming to see the Slovak capital rose by 15 percent.
The most popular month for the foreign visitors was August, when around 100 thousand found their way to Bratislava. According to the rising numbers of the tourist flows to the city, the Bratislava city council expects to exceed the 1 million visitors mark. Overall, most foreign visitors come to Bratislava from the neighbouring Czech Republic; however, its popularity is rising also among the visitors from Germany, Austria and Russia.
