Five Judicial Council members step down

Five members of the Judicial Council stepped down on Monday after being informed by new Justice Minister Maria Kolikova (For the People) that the Government doesn't have confidence in them, TASR press agency reported. Three of them - Jan Havlat, Branislav Jablonka and Magdalena Hromcova - held posts whose nominations fall under the purview of the Government, whereas the remaining two - Roman Huszar and Viliam Pohancenik - were nominated by Parliament. Kolikova asked them to refrain from participating in any further council sessions, including in the upcoming election of the Supreme Court chair.
