New Cabinet officially appointed

On Saturday, President Zuzana Čaputova officially appointed the new Cabinet led by Igor Matovič (OĽaNO). The winner of the general election OĽaNO have seven ministries. The list of individual ministerial nominations is as follows:

Finance Minister - Eduard Heger; Interior Minister - Roman Mikulec; Health Minister - Marek Krajčí; Defence Minister - Jaroslav Naď; Agriculture Minister - Ján Mičovský; Environment Minister - Ján Budaj; and Culture Minister - Natália Milanová. Matovič himself is set to become Prime Minister.

The We Are Family (Sme rodina) party will have three ministerial seats in the cabinet. Milan Krajniak has been nominated for the post of Labour Minister, while Andrej Doležal will head the Transport Ministry and Štefan Holý will be Vice-Premier for Legislation and Strategic Planning. We Are Family head Boris Kollar has been nominated for the post of Speaker of Parliament.

The Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party will be responsible for three ministries. Branislav Grohling will head the Ministry of Education and Ivan Korčok the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while SaS chief Richard Sulik will be both Economy Minister and first Vice-Premier for the Economy simultaneously.

The For the People party (Za l'udi) has obtained two ministries. Mária Kolíková is set to become Justice Minister, while Veronika Remišová will become Vice-Premier and Minister for Investments and Regional Development.

Before the ceremony, representatives of the four coalition parties OĽaNO, We Are Family, Freedom and Solidarity and For the People signed a coalition agreement. Igor Matovič said that through the agreement they want to fulfil their election promises, namely to make Slovakia a country that honest people will be proud of and where honest people will want to live. The content of the agreement will be revealed in the coming days.
