Fines should no longer be compulsory for the violation of the law on personal data protection. The Personal Data Protection Office will be able to decide whether it will issue a fine or not.
Fines should thus depend on individual types of duties that the law enacts for employees and on how serious the possible violation is. Moreover, fines should be significantly lower. The changes are introduced in the draft amendment were approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, 19th March.
