The Association for the Protection of Patients' Rights in Slovakia (AOPP) advises not to delay their collection of prescribed medicines, arguing that both standard paper prescriptions as well as e-prescriptions are valid only for a restricted period. "If any prescription is issued by an emergency service, it is valid only for 24 hours. Prescriptions for antibiotics and chemotherapeutics are valid for three days. Prescriptions for drugs containing narcotic or psychotropic substances are valid for 5 days, and prescriptions for a majority of standard medicines are valid for 7 days, " states the association.
