Matovic: Value issues won't form part of Government Manifesto

Value issues such as life protection and registered partnerships will not be part of the future government manifesto, OLaNO leader Igor Matovic, who was tasked by President Zuzana Caputova with forming the government, told a press conference on Thursday. Matovic, however, added that in the issues of increased protection of life, MPs should have free hands, even when submitting such bills. He pointed to the previous failures of abortion laws in Parliament. In this context, the OLaNO leader stressed the need to help mothers. "Let's try to help women who want to have an abortion for social reasons," he said, adding that such cases should be as few as possible. He noted that if they were to ban abortions in Slovakia, no one would prevent women from undergoing them abroad. More on potential coalition talks in our Topical issue.
