General Director of TV Markiza Matthias Settele perceives the guilty verdict in the case of counterfeited TV Markiza promissory notes as evidence of the Specialised Criminal Court's independence and a positive signal for every investor in Slovakia. Settele pointed out that the counterfeiting of the notes was corroborated by plenty of evidence. "Since the beginning of the dispute, we have maintained that the notes are not authentic. They weren't drafted in 2000, but much later when Pavol Rusko no longer served as an executive of TV Markiza," claimed Settele, who also testified in the courtroom as a witness. A senate of the Specialised Criminal Court in Pezinok (Bratislava region) on Thursday found Marian Kocner and Pavol Rusko guilty of counterfeiting the TV Markiza promissory notes and sentenced them both to 19 years in jail. A fine amounting to €10,000 has been levied on Marian Kocner as well. The verdict is not final and valid.
