A senate of the Specialised Criminal Court sentenced crooked businessman Marián Kočner and former TV Markíza director Pavol Rusko to 19 years in a maximum security jail for counterfeiting the TV Markiza promissory notes worth about € 69 million. Moreover, Kočner has to pay a € 10,000 fine. However, the verdict is not final and valid yet, since they both can still appeal to the court.
Kočner is also standing trial for ordering the murder of the journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée.
