Shorter working hours continue at US Steel Kosice

Representatives of US Steel Košice management and trade unions have agreed to shorten working hours in March under the same conditions as in February, according to Juraj Varga, Chairman of the Trade Union Council, as quoted by the SITA press agency. This means that in March, those with a twelve-hour working time will have one shift less, while those with fewer than ten hours will have two shifts less per week. The resulting day of absence from work will be compensated by 60 percent of the employee's average wage, as has been the case so far. The need for such measures has been brought about by the current oversupply in the European steel market.
