Porsche production moving to Slovakia

According to Porsche CEO Matthias Müller, from 2016 the new generation of Porsche Cayenne SUV vehicles will be manufactured entirely in a factory in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia. This move is part of a reorganisation process involving Porsche and the wider Volkswagen Group.

At present much of Porsche’s Cayenne model is already made at a facility in Bratislava, however final vehicle assembly takes place in Leipzig, Germany. While it is common for German marques to build their vehicles entirely in other countries, Porsche had previously resisted the trend to keep its ‘Made in Germany’ label, however Mr Müller added that all Porsche vehicles will continue to be originally designed in Germany.
