2019 most successful for tourism in Tatras

The Regional Tourism Organisation of the High Tatras Region evaluated 2019 as the most successful in tourism so far. This assessment applies to visitor statistics not only since the organisation was set up in 2011, but also since the foundation of an independent Slovakia in 1993. According to the Regional Tourism Organisation executive director Lucia Blašková, last year saw a year-on-year increase in the number of accommodated visitors by 16 percent, with the summer season being the biggest contributor to this favourable result. However, for the High Tatras the most successful month of last year was September, with a record increase of 25.14 percent. Overall, the number of accommodated visitors increased by almost 600,000 compared to the previous year.
