Parliamentary meeting postponed again

On Wednesday morning, the extraordinary parliamentary meeting was again suspended until Thursday morning due to continuing obstructions by a group of Independent MPs around Miroslav Beblavý (Progressive Slovakia-Together) who perceive the extraordinary meeting as unlawful. They demand the Slovak parliamentary Chief Andrej Danko file a motion with the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, which would speedily decide whether the extraordinary meeting was legally convened and whether it should continue.

At the extraordinary meeting, MPs were to debate in a fast-track legislative procedure the introduction of the 13th pension payment, the increase in child allowance and the scrapping of motorway stickers as proposed by the governing coalition only 10 days before the general election.
