Based on the results of the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020, Slovak scientists have a success rate for their projects that is higher than the EU average. The overall success rate in the program, which involves 154 countries, is 12 percent, while the Slovak success rate is at 13.6 percent. The more than 500 Slovak scientific organizations and companies that joined the program have received over 100 million euro from the Commission for their projects. Priority areas in Slovakia that have benefitted from the funding include food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, as well as marine, maritime and inland water research and the bio-economy.
