Poll: Regrouping of forces among political parties continues

If the Slovak General Election had been held in late January, the largest governing Smer-SD party would have prevailed with 21.9% of votes, indicates a poll conducted by the MVK agency. Another governing party, the Slovak National Party, would be the last to make it into parliament with 6%. The third governing party Most-Híd with 2.9% would not even beat the 5% threshold to make it into Parliament. The strongest of the opposition parties would be the far right People's Party Our Slovakia (12.7%). According to the poll, the remaining five opposition parties would not be able to form a government. Ordinary People (8.9%) would be third followed by For People party (8.5%), the coalition of Progressive Slovakia-Together (8.1%), the Christian Democrats (7.5%) and We Are Family (6.7%). Parliamentary Opposition Freedom and Solidarity would miss the house with (3.8%).

The poll was carried out by the MVK agency between January 24-31 on a sample of 1,123 respondents. The general election in Slovakia is set to take place on February 29 this year.

Another poll, published by the AKO agency on Friday, estimated almost 5 percentage points (p.p.) less for Smer-SD, placed Ordinary People second with 4 additional p.p. and predicted that Freedom and Solidarity would make parliament, thus allowing the opposition to form a government.
