Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini met his Czech counterpart Andrej Babis on Thursday in Bratislava to confirm their common stance on the next EU budget. The issue will be discussed at the meeting of the European Council that will begin on 20 February 2020 with the Slovak Prime Minister absent due to the upcoming general election on 29th February. Slovakia's priority is to maintain financial resources at the level of the previous budget. In an interview for RTVS, Peter Pellegrini said that after Brexit, the V4 group should gain more respect and the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia might now equal the importance of Germany and France.
