Examinations of video footage by forensic scientists do not rule out that Tomáš Szabó, accused of participating in the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová, took part in the crime. However, they cannot confirm it with 100% certainty.
The examinations were presented on Monday as part of day 7 of the trial. Moreover, the court has decided that Miroslav Marček, charged with shooting the victims, will be dealt with in a separate trail. The reason is that he has pleaded guilty and the only remaining question in his case is the length of the sentence. Only two more trial days should be needed to conclude Marček's case.
Marián Kočner, accused of ordering the murder, Alena Zsuzsová, an alleged go-between and Tomáš Szabó, accused of plotting an cooperating the murder, pleaded not guilty. Zoltán Andruskó, who acted as a go-between has already admitted his guilt and has been sentenced to 15 years in jail.
Ján Kuciak and his fianceé Martina Kušnírova were shot dead at their home in February 2018.
